Eddie on ANOTHER EARTH

In ANOTHER EARTH, Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling) (who also co-wrote and co-produced the film), a bright young woman accepted into MIT's astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (William Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. 

On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

This is not a big budget / low budget Hollywood Sci-Fi  action movie. So if you expecting big special effects you will be sorely disappointed.

While the premise could be construed more as science fantasy,  that's not the plot of the movie.

This is a story of "ifs".

I don't give alot away in my reviews and I'm not going to do it here either. The one thing that intrigued me while watching this movie is that I actually cared about the characters and believe everything about them.

This is a beautiful film to watch, and there are these great haunting shots of the "other" earth hanging in the sky. So I will give big kudos to the all the Actors, and  Director/Cinematographer Mike Cahill.

While watching this you begin to think about the choices we make in life and how they can change others at the same time. And what "if" you could do it all again.

At the end there is a moment, I'm not going to say a WTF moment, but right before the screen goes black. You know what you watch it and you'll know what I'm talking about.

This movie is a great example of what low budget movies can do, more so than a Hollywood blockbuster. Sometimes less is more, and that's why this film works so beautifully.

So if you see this at your local rental store of feel like watching something different and soothing, check it out. It also the type of  movie that when it ends you want to talk to someone about it.
